In observance of the federally-recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, known as “9/11 Day,” the federal agency AmeriCorps and MyGoodDeed, the nonprofit that founded 9/11 Day, are inviting qualified college and university organizations to apply for special grant funding to help them organize campus volunteer service activities, focused on hunger relief, in observance of 9/11 Day in 2023.
The goal of these projects is to inspire more than 2,500 STUDENTS, plus faculty members and administrators, to (a) learn about 9/11 Day, and (b) join together to pay tribute on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by packing as many as ONE MILLION healthy, non-perishable meals for individuals on campus and in the local community who are at risk of hunger.
This special program is being organized in partnership with The Pack Shack’s Feed the Funnel program.
Successful and qualified applications will receive “seed” funding to help create, organize, promote and implement their own Feed the Funnel for 9/11 Day event. Online training, meal packing equipment, food supplies and other resources will be provided.
Meals packed on campuses will be distributed to local organizations within those respective communities, as chosen by the colleges.
If your campus is interested in hosting a Feed the Funnel for 9/11 Day event, please review the requirements and complete the application below. Thanks!

About 9/11 Day
Soon after September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, leaders within the 9/11 community, including those who lost loved ones, joined together to lunch the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, known widely today as “9/11 Day,” as a parent tribute to those killed and injured, as well as to first responders and members of our military who rose in service in responses to the attacks.
Since 2001, 9/11 Day has grown to become the largest annual day of charitable service in the nation, officially recognized under federal law, with more than 30 million people and countless organizations participating in the observance each year. Visit 911day.org for more information on the 9/11 Day observance.
